2016: A Review by Elizabeth
I mean come on 2016. GTF out of my house at once this instant.
2016 started for me with a divorce and a lot of good intentions. And it hasn't really improved or declined much on either side of that. While the whole world went to shit, the house of Elizabeth stayed afloat with a lot of water-bailing.
But there are things that we can improve (hello, maybe no more dinners of leftover spaghetti sauce with corn chips sitting on the couch reading shared Facebook articles)
and things we can't (my daughter started kindergarten. Time, seriously staaaahp)
Honestly I don't even remember my word for 2016 because I'm really sleepy, but the word for 2017 is "rhythm."
Rhythm in routine, writing, seasons, and really all the things. I don't have a lot of things going for me that honor any natural rhythm, and so it's a much needed reminder every day.
So really, 2016 was a blur of bills and confusion and trying new wines and weirdly not getting eaten by as many mosquitos as I normally do. It was a year to say goodbye to a lot of things.
Thankfully, we aren't saying goodbye to this blog yet. Look for a brand, spanking new newsletter - and if you aren't part of that club yet, go sign up!! We will be talking about all the animals in our lives, including the children, all the things we try and all the things we love/hate/are confused by.
Do you have a word for 2017? Are you into that sort of thing? Shall Jenn and Elizabeth use their incredible mind powers to assign you one?
